Start Telnet
|

The first thing we need to do is
starting up a telnet session.
Go to the windows Start button and
then Run ('Uitvoeren' for the dutch windows).
Type 'telnet 10.0.0.138' and press enter. (Where
10.0.0.138 is your Modem ip (By default))

Login with Telnet
|
|
Now you'll see the telnet session asking
for a user. Fill in user and press enter.

Note

If it seems to be that you can't type anything, check if
local echo is on.
|

Go into the EXPERT mode
|
|
|
|
|
Change a bit
|
|
This is the really hack.
Please becarefull with this step!
If you do it wrong there is a possibility that you damage your
modem!
Now do the folowing steps:
1. Type rip and press enter
2. Type drv_read 2 1 b and press enter
Now you'll see something like:
ISDN: the data in hex is :9600
Analogue: the data in hex is :8600
You need to remember this number!
3. Turn the last number into a six (6).
You will get something like:
ISDN: 9606
Analogue: 8606
4. This step is important. Be sure you make the right choice between ISDN and Analogue!
Type down one of those:
ISDN: drv_write 2 1 b 9606
Analogue: drv_write 2 1 b 8606
5. Type exit and press enter
6. Type system and press enter
7. Type reboot and press enter. Your modem will reboot now, this can take a minute or 2.

You got yourself a pro modem!

Congratiulations!
Your modem has been turned into a real Pro modem!
But you're not ready yet!
|

|
Deleting some default modem setting
|
|
Note: Be ware that you turned off your internet connection! Close all dial ups!
Press the blue PPTP button on the left.
The modem showes you a list, delete all those entry's by pressing the blue Delete button.
One row will constrain, you can add new entry's with it.
Press the blue Apply button on the top left and then press the Save All button
on the bottom left.
Now press the Phone book. The modem will show you a list again, you must also delete those
entry's by pressing the blue Delete button. After that you need to press the blue Apply
button on the top left and then press the Save All button on the bottom left.
Don't close the window! We still need it!

Adding new pro settings [Phone book]

It's now time to add some new settings to your modem. This will give the modem the power to be online
for 24 hours a day!
Press the blue Phone Book button on the left. Create a new entry with the folowing values:
- Name: MXS
- Second field: 8
- Third field: 84
- Combobox: PPP
You need to see something like this:
Now press the blue Add button.

Now press the blue Apply button.
After this press the blue config button on the right of your new created entry.
Now make the new setting like this:

You need to see something like this:
Now press the blue Apply button and the blue Apply all button on the left.
Go back to PPP (Press the blue PPP button) and set MXS on On. The modem will make
a connection with mxstream!
You've got only one thing to do now, configure your own PC.

Configure your own PC's
|
|
This is the last step you need to do!
Open the property's of your network. (Right click on "My network" and then property's (depends
on what windows you have))
Take over the following settings:
(The way it looks depends on what windows version you have)
Note: If you want to use your internet with multiple pc's, use a
switch/hub to connect the pc's to the modem. You need For each PC a private IP address, never use a IP address
twice and don't use 10.0.0.138.
All the other settings (DNS and gateway) are all the same for each pc.

Wow! You now own a Speedtouch Pro modem!
If you want to get a FTP/web/game/etc. server you need to map
ports. You can do this with Auto port mapping!
